BENEFITS OF THE IPS

The Social Insurance covers risks with nonprofessional disease, maternity, professional industrial accidents and diseases, dissability, oldness and death of the wage-earning workers of the Republic.
The applied regulation is the Dto. Law No.1860/50 of the I.P.S., Approved by law no. 375/56 and updated by laws no. 1085/65, 427/73 and 98/92.
Risks of disease: the Institute will provide to the active workers doctor-surgical and dental attention, medicines and attention hospital ; subsidy in money by rest by disease, which will initiate as of the following day to the one of the incapacity and will last while this one subsists; provision of prótesis apparatuses and ortopedia.
Subsidy by disease, equivalent to 50% of the average of wages on which one in the last prevailed the insured four months in the beginning of the incapacity. The benefits of the insured for the doctor-surgical attention extend a:
- The wife of the insured, or concubine with two years of coexistence, and the husband of the assured one when one possibly is without work.
- The unmarried children of the insured until they fulfil most of age and the disabled people while the incapacity lasts, and the parents of 60 years that live under the protection of the insured.
- The wife of the pensioner, and the husband of the greater pensioner of 60 years than is unemployed and without protection of another welfare regime.
So that such they are taken care of will have to be new recruits by the insured in the Administrative Offices of the IPS, for which it will have to present/display the documentation that credits to the relation of proof of being relatives between the insured and the relative to assure, photo type card, card and last ticket of payment of the insured.
Subsidy by maternity, during the three weeks previous and six weeks later to the probable date of childbirth. (the assured ones use generally nine weeks later to the childbirth and is acceptable by the Institute).
When the assured one has not used the services of the IPS during the pregnancy and childbirth, it will have to ask for the transcription of the medical rest in the Central Hospital of IPS (Santo Domingo District) soon to present/display the documentation required in the Administrative Offices of the IPS (Herrera and Constitución - Address).
